Every year thousands of pilgrims put off Umrah because they have nobody to travel with — a spouse can't get leave, friends have already been, or the dates just never line up. Find a Companion exists for exactly that moment: tell us when you want to go and a little about yourself, and we quietly look for compatible same-gender pilgrims leaving from your part of the world at the same time.
We compare travel dates, departure country and city, languages, age group, budget and Umrah experience — and we try to pair first-timers with someone who has made the journey before. When we find a promising pair or small group, everyone gets an email with first names and departure cities only. If the whole group says yes, we introduce you by email (and WhatsApp if you chose to share it), and the planning is yours: many companions book hotels near the Haram together right here.

Is Find a Companion free?
Yes — completely free. Near Haramain runs it as a service for pilgrims; you never pay to be listed, matched, or introduced.
How are men and women matched?
When you sign up you tell us your gender, and matching is strictly same-gender: men are only ever matched with men, and women with women. Cross-gender matching is not possible in our system.
When is my email address or phone number shared?
Only after everyone in a proposed match says yes. Until then, other travellers see just your first name, departure city, and travel preferences — never your contact details.
Can we travel as a small group rather than a pair?
Yes. Tell us you prefer a small group and we will try to form a group of up to 6 compatible travellers with similar dates, departure country and language. If you prefer just one companion, we only ever propose a pair.
What if nobody matches my exact dates?
We first look for exact matches. If nothing appears after a few days, we suggest close matches — for example someone whose dates differ by a few days or who departs from a nearby city — and we always tell you exactly what the difference is. Choosing a flexible month instead of fixed dates matches much faster.
How do I stop the emails or remove my listing?
Every email we send has a one-click unsubscribe link, and your private dashboard has pause and withdraw buttons. Once you are matched or withdrawn, the matching emails stop automatically.
Do you vet or verify the travellers you introduce?
No — we introduce, but we do not vet, screen or verify travellers, and arrangements you make together are your own. We recommend a group video call before committing to anything, never sending money to someone you have not met, and booking your own rooms and flights. You can report anyone who behaves inappropriately and we will act on it.
I signed up before — can I use it again for another trip?
Yes. Your listing is reusable: after a trip (or a match), open your dashboard and tap "Planning another trip?" to relist with new dates in under a minute.
